What Is Your Mindset Type? Fixed VS Growth
There are two different ways people think about their abilities and potential: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. If you’re in a rut, assess your mindset. You can display a growth mindset today, and tomorrow, with enough accumulated trauma, you can slip into a fixed mindset.
People with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities and talents are set and can’t change much. They think if you’re not good at something now, you’ll never be good at it. This mindset makes them afraid to try new things or take risks because they worry about failing and what others will think of them.
People with a growth mindset believe that they can develop and improve their abilities through effort, learning, and persistence. They see challenges and failures not as signs that they’re not good enough, but as opportunities to learn and grow. These people are more willing to try hard things and keep working at them, even when it’s tough.
Our mindset affects how we react to difficult situations. For example, if someone with a growth mindset gets a bad grade, they think about how they can work harder to improve. But someone with a fixed mindset might think a bad grade means they’re just not smart enough.
